SOMOS **Reimagined** is made possible by the visionary leadership of Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque, and the Albuquerque Community Foundation, all of whom championed SOMOS ABQ when it was still only an idea. We are grateful for their continued partnership and, especially, for your support of all 28 new original commissioned works and 191 local artists, performers, and creatives involved for this year’s occasion.

SOMOS SPECIAL RECOGNITION: Bernalillo County & Julie Morgas Baca
In early 2017, five young colleagues approached Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca with hope for insight, guidance, and collaboration. Our concept was a love letter to Albuquerque; an invitation for young people, professionals, and families to engage new points of connection to place; and an intergenerational arts and culture festival celebration designed for accessibility, in the heart of Downtown, tentatively called SOMOS. And you can probably guess, because now it’s 2020, but gratitude always deserves note: Julie Morgas Baca and the Bernalillo County Commission reciprocated our devotion to New Mexico, encouraged our development and pursuit of this vision, and signed on as the very first sponsoring partners of SOMOS ABQ. They trusted, empowered, and directly resourced young people in their community to engage our peers and build the opportunities we wished to exist. They made it possible for us to make all of this together, collaboratively with creatives across our city, in a way that allows for resilience and reimagining even now.
